Bertie’s Marvellous Pineapple & Basil Chilli Sauce Wins Gold ‘Best Table Sauce’ at 2025 Great British Food Awards

The results are in, and the winners have been announced, for the 2025 Great British Food Awards and we are delighted to have won Gold, and been crowned ‘Best Table Sauce’ for our Bertie’s Marvellous Pineapple & Basil Chilli Sauce.

Bertie Hayward, Co-Founder of Bertie’s Marvellous said, “When we heard earlier in the summer that all three of our Chilli Sauces had been selected as Finalists at this year’s Great British Food Awards, I was blown away. However today’s announcement that our Bertie's Marvellous Pineapple & Basil Chilli Sauce is a Gold Winner and is 'Best Table Sauce' at this year's awards has me smiling from ear to ear. Having launched a little over a year ago this marks another significant step on our mission; creating small batch, lovingly made, handcrafted condiments and sauces - and is testament to the hard work of the whole team who have each played their part in this.”

Great British Food Awards Category Judge, Lucy Charles noted “This was my favourite, a delicious sauce which would go with lots of things - loved trying it with chicken wings and roasted veggies! No nasties in the ingredients list, essential for me. An interesting, different and tasty option which really stands out in a category comprised of many similar products these days. I will definitely seek this out in the future, thank you for introducing it to me!”

Flavour-packed & versatile, our Pineapple and Bail Chilli Sauce goes with almost everything. Handmade in small batches, it marries the bright zing of fresh pineapple with basil & apple cider vinegar. Green chilli gives a gentle heat, with spicing delivered by fenugreek & carom (ajwain) seeds. It’s a brilliant marinade & a cooking sauce too, ideal for chicken or fish.
