It's Birthday Week - We're One!

Just over three years ago, we began our mission to create a range of lovingly made, hand-crafted condiments and sauces — later named Bertie’s Marvellous — which we finally launched with our first three Bertie’s Marvellous Chilli Sauces a year ago this week. So, we’re sticking our flag in the sand and declaring ourselves one year old this week!

It’s been quite a year — receiving wonderful feedback from you, our lovely customers, as well as awards recognition: our Pineapple & Basil Hot Sauce winning a star at this year’s Great Taste Awards (@guildoffinefood), and all three of our sauces being selected as finalists for the Great British Food Awards (@gbf_mag) with winners announced on the 27th of October.

They say that age is a matter of perspective, and that wisdom is the product of continuous learning and embracing opportunity. So, throughout this week we’re sharing more about our story so far, what we’ve learned, and giving you a peek into what we have planned for the year ahead.

But before all of that, we need to share some love — and thank all the bright stars who have helped us get this far.

We hear constant delight in our branding and styling, for which we’re forever grateful to Stuart and Roland at Trade Design (@wearetradedesign), who worked tirelessly with us from early inception through to completion in 2023 — you guys rock!

At the same time, we were working with a number of chefs to refine our recipes and initial range of hot sauces. But it wasn’t until the marvellous Sarah Wyndham Lewis (@honeysommelierlondon) connected us with Pratap (@thathungrychef) that everything suddenly fell into place, and our three hot sauces were finalised and ready to carry the Marvellous name. We cannot thank Sarah enough — not only for this connection but also for her tireless support of all we’ve done — and to Pratap, a master of flavour who rightly deserves credit for perfecting our recipes and creating such distinct, award-winning sauces.
